Salmon!

Maple glazed salmon with garlic, this time in the toaster oven. The fish tops a bed of noodles with rice and beef. The carbs sit on top of raw pieces of lettuce for fun.

Again, it turned out a bit dry. Timing is hard to perfect.

Baked Sweet potato:

Easy and yum!

Tim Hortons

I know, I know. It's so exciting.

Medium hot chocolate and toasted plain bagel with butter:

Butter was a pool of liquid that soaked into the bagel. Mmm... butter.
Damage: $2.44, unless I remembered incorrectly.

Random note: I was told that if you bring your losing Tim Hortons Roll up the rim cup to a Country Style, they'll give you a free coffee.

Fried Tuesday! I mean, (More Than) Toonie Tuesday!

If there's a large line in front of the KFC cashiers during lunch time, it means it's Tuesday. And everyone must get the Tuesday special: $2.97 (including tax) for two pieces of super fried colonel's chicken and fries.

I couldn't finish the fries. The word "lard" kept coming to mind as I was eating them. I would have appreciated a knife with my plastic fork, but I was lucky to get any utensil as Andrew only got coupons with his meal.

Some sort of chocolate cake from Second Cup. Technically, I only had a forkful as it was rightfully Simon's snack:

Sapporo Sushi

Sapporo Sushi (330 Highway 7 East, Richmond Hill)

Monday salmon sashimi lunch special includes the following:

Fresh salmon sashimi. Fresh!
Salad.
Peach mango ice cream.
Also includes a miso soup that I didn't take a picture of.

I was pretty impressed with the sashimi that this cozy restaurant provided. No complaints here. Everything was excellent and for a great price!

Damage: $11 (including tax and tip).

Maple Glazed Salmon

I felt like I needed to make something, so I Googled some maple glazed salmon recipes. I used frozen filets and just kind of poured a random amount of maple syrup and soya sauce on 'em, and threw them in the oven for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees F. Finished it off by throwing the fish over some leftover fried rice. Not bad. Just a little on the dry side, but that maple syrup adds something reminiscent of the burnt sugar that I'm now so fond of.

Korean, Chocolate, and More McFish

From the Korean restaurant on highway 7 that has/used to have the same name as the Korean show:
Mel's soup:
My spicy seafood and tofu soup:
It was spicy enough to clear my sinuses. The tofu was extra silky.

Jo's stone bowl:
It was large enough so that she didn't finish it.

I found this box of chocolates on the floor of the dining room. I've never tried the Lindola line from Lindt, and man, I was missing out.

I ate five pieces in one go, and not one of them was bad. I especially like that nutty one you see in the foreground of the picture. It may not be handmade, but it's hard to go wrong with Lindt chocolate.

I just can't say no to the Filet-O-Fish. How can I not get the combo when the burger alone and the combo are the same price? $3.99 without tax.

Quck and Easy

Siu Mai from Richmond Court courtesy of Jo:

They were 4 for about $1.75

Japanese instant noodles:

Josie, before adding the hot water: Tastes like if you made soya sauce into a thick sauce.

I've never seen instant noodles get so brown with the sauce. So salty. So so salty, even for me

Junky Goodness

Andrew's chipotle chicken wrap:

Andrew: They should put chipotle sauce on Big Mac. I'd eat that.

Filet-o-fish again:

Can't resist.

Mrs. Fields brownie for $1.95 (including tax):
Soft and chocolaty. It seems I like some texture in my brownies because I appreciated the chocolate chips. Had a nice bite to it.
This is your vision on sugar:

Beer Bistro

Beer Bistro (18 King Street East, Toronto)
http://www.beerbistro.com/

Stuff I split with Jo
Schneider Weisse beer and a Lindemans Apple beer:

Made me look really weak ordering such a fruity beer that came in a delicate glass. The juxtaposition of the big beer next to the Lindemans drink only emphasized the girlishness of fruity alcoholic drinks. The Belgian girlie drink didn't taste much like alcohol, and it was slightly sour. I liked it, and others noted that it smelled like apples.

Half Duck Confit pizza and half Hog Wild pizza:
The Hog Wild tasted better with its sweet BBQ sauce (or something like it), despite the random cubes of pure meat fat. It also had whole cloves of garlic, but I like garlic, so it's all good. I liked the cheese in the duck confit. According to the menu, the dough is made with McAuslan Oatmeal Stout.

Sticky Lamb Ribs:
Not recommended. Wasn't really "sticky" as advertised, and it was considered dry by everyone who tried it.

Devil's Puttanesca mussel bowl:
I enjoyed them. They seemed well-flavoured to me. Dipping the bread in the sauce was a great experience. Very tasty. Josie kept getting the anchovies, but I didn't get any of it. She counted three meatless shells.

Damage: ~$50

Andrea and Mel's Food
Steak Tartare:
Baked Mussels Florentine:
Wild Hog Beer Bread Pizza:

Random notes:
-Everyone seemed pleased with the food in general. There was praise for the smoked ketchup that came with the Belgian Frites.
-The sorbet came in a glass ash tray. I thought it was weird, but Andrea thought it looked cool.
-Server didn't check up on the food with us, and Mel had to ask for more water.
-Andrea and Mel liked the Steak Tartare the best out of their food choices.
-At another table, I snuck a bite off of Berta and Jess's dessert plate, and that mouthful of beer ice cream and brownie bits was surprisingly tasty.

PC Belgian Chocolate Mousse Cups

Chocolates courtesy of Josie:

Creamy. The pistachio one doesn't really taste like pistachio, but it was still good. I liked the lemon one. Oh, and you discover that there are different layers in most of them when you bite into it. That's assuming that you take more than one bite to eat a piece.
