Mighty Angus Burger

There is a promotion at McDonald's to get the mighty Angus burger combo for $7 (plus tax), but only at the locations on Yonge Street, between Bloor and Front. The promo goes on for unannounced length of time.

The burger itself is big enough, and looks exciting. There is a good half inch in height of meat. The bun holds well, and this might be the best beef I've had from McDonald's. (I'm comparing this to the "100% beef" in the Big Mac.) It works, but my one gripe is that the sauce is a bit too sweet for me.

All in all, not bad for the promo price, but I wouldn't pay $9-something (pre-tax) for this combo.

McDevil Muffin

This tray was pretty random, what with the filet-o-fish combo and the chocolate muffin.
Still on the prowl for crunchy top muffins, I decided to try the one at McDonald's.
This was an Oreo double chocolate muffin (or something along those lines). This was the closest thing to crunchy top muffin that I've had in a while. The edges were slightly harder, but I wasn't sure if that was by design or from being left out all day. If anything, the Oreo cookie bits made it crunchy.

The search for proper muffins continues...

McDevil

Me: How can it be a rib if it has no bone?
Andrew: It's all the meat in between mashed up and processed into a patty.
Me: So it's like a McNugget but in burger form.
Andrew: Yeah, but pork and with barbecue sauce.

The McRib is back for a limited time. Andrew seems to like it.

I just order the crispy chicken ranch snack wraps.
Crispy!

McBiscuit

A promotion involved a free McDonald's breakfast biscuit sandwich (which isn't actually called McBiscuit, but they should've labelled it as such).

Sausage 'n egg biscuit.

The egg is scrambled and folded, unlike in the McMuffins. That makes the height of this monster a couple jaw clicks taller. The buttermilk biscuit is very fluffy and buttery. It is so buttery that even though I only held the sandwich through the paper, my hands had shiny visible grease drops when I finished eating. Either the paper is that porous or the grease is that potent. The first bite is heart attack awesomeness, but I felt like I needed to run a marathon when I was done... or take a nap.

Would I order this again? Probably not... unless it was free. I'm good with the Sausage McMuffin with egg combo (#2). This calorie-laden biscuit thing is a whole other monster that I'm not ready to subject my body to regularly.

Total damage: free, thanks to their promotion!

McDonald's Coffee

McDonald's coffee is free until November 28.
It actually tastes okay, but it did nothing for me in terms of keeping me awake. The minute I finished the coffee, I passed out. They might water it down for the promotion. Or maybe it was decaf! :o

McDevil Fail

McDonald's (420 Highway 7 East, Richmond Hill, Ontario)

Wanting to satisfy my late night craving for salty goodness, me and Josie took a stroll to McDonald's.

Medium fries and crispy ranch snack wrap.
This is the first time in my life that I've ever wanted more salt for the fries at McDonald's. I get McDonald's fries becaure they're salty. I was so disappointed. Furthermore, when Josie asked for salt and pepper, she was given one small packet of each. That may have been enough for ten fries, but I ordered a medium!

Something is wrong with the world when McDonald's fries are not salty enough.

Total damage: $4.84.

McDevil

I can't always eat bling food. When I'm on the go and need a lot of calories, I go for McDonald's.

I'm a sucker for breakfast combo #2: Sausage egg McMuffin combo with apple juice.

Filet-o-fish combo.

Why is it now a half slice of processed cheese?

That hash brown was deep fried for too long.

This is the colour that hash browns should be.

Random Food!

Chicken sandwich from some random fast food joint:
I think it was called a Real McCoy sandwich. I just remember being pretty disappointed. Chicken wasn't crispy, and you put on your own toppings. The toppings bar was being circled by flies.

The pistachio chocolate from Côte d'Or is awesome. There are actually chunks of pistachio in the dark chocolate bar.

The orange one is also very nice.

Costco chocolate muffin, courtesy of Renée:

Egg salad sandwich on brown with cucumber and a side of red grapefruit.
Big Mac meal:

This fry truck that was at Buskerfest didn't serve their poutine with cheese curds. It was simply shredded cheese, and we wondered why the line was so long.
$3 pasta from the Old Spaghetti Factory stand at Buskerfest:
Mel's Buskerfest cheese pastry:
The Aloha Kettle Corn stand has higher prices, but I think it's worth it when they give you a warm bag. Unfortunately, that isn't all of the time.
KFC family meal:
They initially forgot our jug of 7up.

Filet-o-fish:
McDonald's apple pie:
Wonton noodles:
Normally street hot dogs are $3.25, but this one was $3.00. It was somewhere on Bay Street between College and King.
Walnut cake:
The cake part was really nice and fluffy, but the walnut chunks were a bit too large and kind of bitter for my likings.
Renée's tea, Simon's coffee+milk+hot chocolate, and my hot chocolate+coffee.
Tim Horton's sausage breakfast sandwich:
The biscuit part was actually crispy on the edges. I had ordered two of these and a chocolate danish to last me until dinner that day.

I'm pretty sure these are pre-made and heated when ordered.

McDevil USA

McDonald's (Somewhere off the I-90? I-190?)
Premium Crispy Chicken Ranch BLT Sandwich ($4.98 USD, including tax):

It was steaming as I was biting into it. It was pretty good for McDevil food.

This is what they call Chicken McNuggets® in the states:
They need to standardize them because I'm used to this. The ones from this McDonald's were not as crispy, but at least they tasted better than they looked.

Mel got cookies with her Happy Meal:
Jess said they tasted like cleaning agent.

Also, apple slices in a sealed bag are really weird.

Total damage: 580 calories for the chicken BLT and 230 calories for 5 McNuggets®.

Boston food posts to come!
