Mr. Greek

905-731-6600

Usually in this plaza of abundant restaurants, it's pretty easy to count on Mr. Greek to have free tables; however, there were quite a few more customers than expected.

Normally, the complimentary bread is warm and doused in butter. It seemed a bit lacking (in warmth and seasoning) last time.

Fried calamari
They had a special spicy menu which turned out to be items on the regular menu but with spicy sauce. I actually prefer the regular tzatziki sauce. The tentacles tasted better than the rings, texture-wise and flavour-wise.

Classic gyro dinner
The gyro is pretty consistent every time I go here. It's good enough that it's pretty much the only thing I order.

Would I return? Probably. I don't like waiting for seating at the other restaurants nearby, and who doesn't love a plate loaded with meat?

Greek salad
The salad had a generous sprinkling of feta cheese. It was pretty monstrously sized, and I was a bit full after finishing it.

Pork souvlaki with potatoes and rice.

The potatoes tasted like they were boiled before being roasted. They weren't seasoned enough for my liking. The meat was the highlight of this plate, as it should've been. The pork was tender and very flavourful. I also appreciated the mound of tzatziki sauce.

Saganaki.
Who doesn't love flaming cheese?

Would I return? Yes. The pork was enough to make me go back for more.

Total damage: approximately $15, give or take a buck or two.

Mr. Greek

Mr. Greek (161 York Boulevard, Richmond Hill, Ontario)
905-731-6600

No picture of bread this time, but it's usually toasted, warm, and buttered - in a good way.

Greek salad that comes with my meal.
I think it's the delicious feta cheese that fills me up.

Gyro dinner
Meat is good. Potatoes are good. Rice is okay.

Baklava.

Would I return? Probably. The prices are pretty good for the amount of food you get. It's a chain you can find in some food courts, but they do it up pretty nice at this location. Also, it's easy to get seats there because it's not as crowded as the some of the neighbouring restaurants. Double also, Andrea really likes Greek salad.

Mr. Greek

The classic gyro:

I liked the potatoes. It was mentioned that rice from The Friendly Greek has more flavour.
The bread wasn't bad. We were hungry so we got three baskets of it.

We all thought the salad was going to be a small side salad, but it was a pretty big bowl. Lots of lettuce, two pieces of tomato, few crumbs of feta cheese, few olives, and some slivers of red onion.
